“Blind Country was based on a short story by H.G. Wells called The Country of the Blind, which is about a man’s descent into a lost civilization of blind people, whose abandonment there throws him into a severe psychosis. He tries unsuccessfully to dominate this feminine sensual culture with his ‘sight’ orientated male power. Beckman and Kelley have focused on the personal crisis of Wells’ fallen hero for their tape.
