Goals is a floor installation that superimposes the goals of six major team sports into an actual-scale “color field” abstraction of hollow winning.

We are the champions. And the losers. This is a non-zero-sum game, where gains can be made off the scoreboard, outside of the game clock, beyond the field, and even in moments rife with pain or ambiguity.
This exhibition divulges shameful and disregarded aspects of sports. It accentuates the kinships and struggles of athletes, and revels in the moments that break with the past and usher in new eras.

Excerpt:
This is perfect timing with the media blitz of sports that depict sports heroes through an assortment of mesmerizing collections. The banners seem to jump off the wall and describe the nuances of basketball and other sports, such as hockey and football. The floor design runs freely in all directions, and the visual presentation of a basketball net, an NBA jersey and the variety of slogans on the wall represent the cultural importance and reverence for sports. There is a story with each project and lesson to be learned about sports culture and history, and the kids will have an enriching and educational experience.

โCrazy, weird, overwhelming, trippyโ
โ A review from a child who selected Goals as their favorite work in the Sports Sports Sports exhibition.
โItโs not often that I see young boys so excited about art. They instantly recognize the lines and try to decipher how many, and which courts, are represented in Goals.
We also use the installation as a starting point for activitiesโwe talk about courts as community gathering spaces.โ
